Being Positive and Dedicated is the Key to being a good Temp

Paula Luse wins our last Temp of the Quarter for 2017. After recently leaving school in Ireland and relocating to Shropshire, she contacted Prince Personnel to kick start her career.

Paula has shown great attitude and flexibility by stepping in to cover an interim receptionist requirement at very short notice. However, she has proved herself to be such an asset that she has been kept on for much longer than originally anticipated.

We believe the experience that Paula has gained during this temporary role will be invaluable for her as she looks to progress her career.

Our client has been impressed with Paula’s helpfulness and dedication and added that she is always willing to get stuck into the difficult jobs – with a smile on her face. They added that Paula enjoys working with other teams which has given her valuable experience that will serve her well in the future.

Here’s what Paula thinks about her experience with Prince Personnel.

What is your current position?

This assignment is my first full time job. I originally joined as a receptionist/ administrator to cover someone leaving which was meant to be for a few weeks – but after 11 weeks I am still here!

Tell us a bit about your role?

My role includes answering the phone, greeting customers, helping the accounts team with filing (…lots of filing!). I am also archiving paperwork due to the company moving head office in the New Year which keeps me busy.

How did Prince Personnel help you prepare for this role?

I registered with Prince Personnel and they advised that as I was new to the area a temporary role would be an ideal way to gain some experience. Although I was looking to secure a permanent role straight away, I am grateful to Prince Personnel for recommending a temporary placement as I have gained lots of experience for the future.

What’s your top tip for securing a good temp job?

Always be positive and make sure you do every task with your best effort even if it’s not a very interesting job. It is also better to complete a job properly although it may take longer than expected because taking shortcuts could lead to you doing something wrong and having to start all over again.

How did you feel about winning Temp of the Quarter and what did you win?

I was really shocked and really happy at the same time and I won a lovely Chocolate and Nut Delight Hamper.

What’s next for you?

I am hopeful to secure a permanent role at my present company in the near future as I am enjoying working here and I have learnt a lot about the business.
