Our Shrewsbury-based client has a vacancy for an Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis. You will be working in a high volume role looking after sales and purchase ledger and assisting with credit control.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing both incoming and outgoing invoices, including accurate data entry, coding, and processing of invoices and credit notes.
  • Raising invoices and ensuring they are issued in a timely manner, while also processing and allocating incoming payments.
  • Reconciling accounts and resolving any discrepancies by liaising with relevant internal contacts where needed.
  • Supporting payment processes and maintaining up-to-date records of transactions.
  • Monitoring outstanding balances and following up on overdue payments, while handling and resolving invoice-related queries efficiently.
  • Ensuring all financial data is recorded accurately and maintained in an organised, auditable system.
  • Providing general administrative support to the wider team as required.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will need to have experience of working in a similar role. You will be a self-starter with a proactive attitude and someone who can manage their workload effectively with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be a committed, process-driven individual with practical experience in a high-volume transactional environment. You will need to be a competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and basic Excel.
