We are working with an established and values-driven organisation who are seeking an experienced Interim Human Resources Manager to lead the delivery of a proactive, high-quality HR service during a period of transition.

This is a senior operational role requiring a confident HR professional who can advise leadership, manage complex employee relations matters, and ensure compliance with employment legislation. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders to support organisational objectives while fostering a positive and professional working environment.

This role is initially being offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis however there is a reasonable chance this role may become

Strategic HR Support

  • Partner with senior leadership to implement people strategies aligned with organisational priorities
  • Provide expert advice on workforce planning, organisational development, and change management
  • Lead HR initiatives and projects that support staff engagement and effective leadership

Employee Relations & Policy

  • Manage a wide range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, restructuring and performance management
  • Ensure HR policies remain up to date, legally compliant and aligned with best practice
  • Support managers in applying policies consistently and fairly

Recruitment & Safeguarding

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes across teaching and support roles
  • Ensure recruitment processes comply with safer recruitment and safeguarding requirements
  • Maintain accurate pre-employment checks and compliance records

Payroll & Reward

  • Work closely with finance colleagues on payroll processes and budgeting
  • Manage employee lifecycle changes including starters, leavers, salary changes and leave arrangements
  • Provide advice on pay structures, benefits and contractual documentation

Performance, Development & Wellbeing

  • Support staff engagement, wellbeing initiatives and professional development
  • Oversee appraisal processes and advise on leadership development needs

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with UK employment law, data protection and equality legislation
  • Support regulatory inspections and maintain HR compliance documentation
  • Identify and manage people-related risks

HR Operations

  • Maintain accurate HR systems and personnel records
  • Provide workforce data, reporting and insights to support leadership decision-making
  • Line manage and support the HR Assistant

Experience & Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience advising senior leaders and handling complex employee relations cases
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Experience within education or similarly regulated environments is advantageous

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent senior HR experience)
