Prince Personnel are working with a great business who are based to the East of Telford. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Purchase Ledger Clerk will support a small and busy finance team by processing purchase ledger transactions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Process and match invoices, ensuring appropriate authorisation and accurate coding
  • Maintain supplier records and ensure changes are properly authorised
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies and queries
  • Respond to supplier and internal finance queries promptly
  • Manage payment schedules and prevent duplicate payments
  • Process payment runs in line with agreed terms and authorisation procedures
  • Administer corporate card transactions and expense claims
  • Reconcile purchase ledger accounts and support month-end reporting
  • Assist with month-end, year-end and audit requirements
  • Process ad hoc payments as required
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Process payments and support electronic payment methods
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash records
  • Assist with banking activities and cash management
  • Support bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will need to have had previous experience of working in finance with a good understanding of purchase ledger processes and financial controls. Also a working knowledge of VAT as it relates to purchase invoices. You will need proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, strong customer service and stakeholder management skills and the ability to investigate and resolve supplier and invoice queries.
