A well-established manufacturing organisation is seeking a Logistics Coordinator / Transport Planner to manage inbound and outbound transport operations at its Telford site.

This is a hands-on role coordinating daily logistics via external hauliers, ensuring efficient delivery, cost control, and high service levels. With a strong focus on process improvement and modernisation, this position offers real scope to add value and drive change. You’ll have a high level of autonomy with no micromanagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys ownership and continuous improvement within a supply chain / distribution environment.

Duties will include, but won’t be limited to:

  • Plan and optimise UK delivery routes (daily and weekly)
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics operations
  • Allocate work to third-party hauliers / transport providers
  • Schedule and manage vehicle loading and despatch
  • Align inbound materials with production and supply chain requirements
  • Manage delays, issues, and real-time transport re-planning
  • Act as key contact for hauliers, drivers, and logistics partners
  • Maintain accurate transport plans, schedules, and data (Excel / systems)
  • Liaise with internal teams (sales, production, operations)
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency gains

Skills and Experience

  • Experience as a Logistics Coordinator, Transport Planner, or Distribution Planner
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport planning / route optimisation
  • Experience managing external hauliers / 3PL providers
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Confident, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Strong IT skills (particularly Excel / logistics systems)
  • Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external partners
  • Full driving licence and own transport (site location)
